ABOUT THE PROJECT
The proposed McIntyre project offers a number of features that will complement and enhance downtown Portsmouth: significant open space, a four-season indoor gathering space, a central plaza, co-working space, a market for local food and beverage vendors, and new lifestyle amenities. Potential retail amenities – such as a brewery, grocer or fitness center – are particularly exciting possibilities for the space.
Portsmouth could not have asked for a better, more robust community input process. Over the past year, the Redgate-Kane development team has participated in more than 30 public meetings on the McIntyre project and incorporated extensive feedback from residents and business and community leaders into the design.
The McIntyre project features the very best and latest in urban design. It will transform an underutilized city block – an objective of Portsmouth leaders for many years.
The open space, residential and retail components will attract new residents, employees, and customers to downtown Portsmouth. This project will also create much needed new tax revenue. Excess returns from the project will also be returned to Portsmouth to be spent on public parks and recreational amenities.
